Caffinated Stitcher

Yep..That's right.....6 years to get around to finishing this stocking. My nephew is now 16 and will no doubt find his stocking a little boyish! Since it will probably be staying at my house, that's ok....I will always appreciate it. I haven't added the charms yet, as I usually do that when I sew together the stocking.

Happy Stitching!

I'm choosing this awesome little ornament for my next "ornament" start. I've had the pattern since it was released and keep picking it up to look at it, so I figured it was way past time to get going on it.

I will not be using the suggested threads, but will instead convert them to DMC colors. Some of them are listed in the December 2010 issue of Just Cross Stitch Magazine, where you will find Acorn House's Santa ornament. I'll wing it on the rest of them. I love the threads, but they are a little expensive considering I would have to purchase all of them. I'm choosing 32 ct. Belfast Opalescent for the fabric. I love all that sparkle and there are plenty of white areas in this ornament to take advantage of it. My beads are on order and should be here soon...unless they are out in the "frozen shut" mailbox...lol!

That santa is looking cute too! Except I can see the beard done differently to suit my own tastes. I'm sure that by the time I finish Elf-in-the-Box, I'll be ready to do another ornament that is completely different from it though.

I haven't chosen a "big" project to work on yet. There are so many I want to do it's hard to make up my mind and stick with it because all those other fairies and angels whisper "work on me"...guess I will wait until one just jumps out at me. Passione Ricamo has a new hint on her sight that looks very interesting. Like maybe a fresh breath of spring....I'm ready for that after all of this snow and months more of it to go. Who knows....I'm just going with the flow and will not push myself to work on anything that I don't really want to :)

Until later,
Happy Stitching

This sweet little guy is my first stitching finish for the year! Yay!!

He was a lot of fun to stitch and put together. I ended doing a "make do" with him, as I was too impatient to wait for my supplies to get here. Not to mention my mailbox is frozen shut. I'll have to get out there today and work on that.

I'm posting a pic of the original pattern instead of my finish, as I'm still waiting for the Sweet Huck branches that I ordered from Country Stitches to come in. I can then put his legs and antlers on. As soon as I get those on, I will post the completed Rudolph. It could be a week and a half to two weeks.

I'd love to create a whole herd of these little sweeties this year...but no promises.

Until next time,
Happy Stitching

Happy New Year!!

December was a record snow fall for Minnesota.

We had 33.4 inches total!

I thought I would show you a few pictures that I ventured out to take.

January is supposed to be our "snowiest" month. I'm not sure where they are going to put all of it!

Just two days ago I was down in the town square taking pictures of the flag display for Veterans Day. This is what I woke up to this morning! This was about 5:00 in the morning. It snowed heavily most of the day and we got a lot more than is shown here. Looks like I'll be having no more of my little front porch visitors until next spring.
